About American Cocker Spaniels

American Cocker Spaniels were originally bred for a very specific task: flushing and retrieving game birds, especially the woodcock. They were designed to be compact, soft-mouthed, and deeply connected to their handler. This close partnership with people made them natural house dogs from the very beginning, not the kind of hunting dog left in a kennel, but one who curled up by the hearth after a day in the field. Their merry temperament, eager spirit, and beautiful looks made them beloved companions as much as working dogs.

Now, fast forward to today...

Most American Cockers are no longer out flushing game in the marshes or woodlands, instead, they’re companions. But the type of companion they are comes directly from their origins. They’re affectionate, people-oriented, and happiest when they are included in daily life. Unlike a pug, who may be content to snooze the day away, or a rat terrier, who might happily occupy themselves in the backyard, a Cocker Spaniel thrives on interaction. They’re indoor dogs at heart, they want to be part of the family conversation, ride along in the car, or follow their owner from room to room.

Our Legacy

Our story began with "Bo Mo Puppy" and "Molly Be Good" - Two extraordinary American Cocker Spaniels whose legacy lives on in the puppies we raise today.

The lifestyle match is important

A person who wants a quiet, low-maintenance lapdog might find a Cocker’s energy level “too much,” because Cockers still carry that working-dog drive. They love walks, play sessions, games, and learning tricks. They need a family who enjoys daily engagement, not necessarily marathon runners, but people who find joy in routine activity and bonding. They excel in homes where companionship is reciprocal: “You give me your time, and I’ll give you my whole heart.”

Of course, their stunning looks, that flowing coat, those soulful eyes, come with grooming needs. Someone who chooses a Cocker needs to embrace that part of the relationship too, whether it’s brushing at home or regular trips to the groomer. Where some breeds advertise independence, Cockers excel at closeness. They don’t want to be “just around”; they want to be with you. That’s their evolution: from hunting fields to hearth rugs, from flushing birds to filling homes with warmth.

So who is a Cocker Spaniel person?

Likely someone who values beauty and companionship together. Someone who wants a dog to greet the kids after school, to sit patiently while you sip your morning coffee, to jog with you around the block but also curl up with you on the couch. They aren’t the right fit for someone who wants a dog that “takes care of itself.” But for the person who longs for a loyal shadow, a gentle heart, and a dose of joy in their everyday life, the American Cocker Spaniel delivers exactly what it was bred for: closeness, love, and an enduring partnership.
